BERKSHIRE COUNTY BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION
TRADES COUNCIL ENDORSES DAN BIANCHI FOR MAYOR
At the October monthly meeting of the Berkshire County Building and Construction Trades Council it was voted unanimously to endorse Dan Bianchi for Mayor in the City of Pittsfield.
The Trades Council represents 14 trade unions with 1500 members in the Pittsfield area.
Mr. Bianchi’s commitment to help support our existing small businesses grow directly benefits our employers. Helping our small local contractors be competitive in today’s difficult economy is paramount in ensuring whenever possible, local contractors employee our local tradesmen and women on local projects. The money they earn stays in Pittsfield and is not spent out of state. Trades Council Secretary Mike Filpi stated.
Mr. Bianchi’s keen interest in our school system is welcomed. Many of our future members will be taught in the vocational technical programs here in Pittsfield. Adequately funding these programs to ensure that the equipment they train on is of 21st century technology, gives these students and advantage when they go onto apprenticeship programs or higher education.
Replacing our aging workforce with highly trained young men and women from these programs is key to the future success of our trade union movement, Filpi added.
LABORERS’ LOCAL 473 ENDORSES DAN BIANCHI FOR MAYOR
Laborers’ Local 473, Pittsfield, MA., which represents 600 working men and women in the construction, custodial, and pre cast concrete industries has endorsed Dan Bianchi for Mayor in the City of Pittsfield.
Local 473 Secretary Treasurer cited Mr. Bianchi’s commitment to create a business development and marketing plan to expand jobs as well supporting our existing small businesses a key component of why Local 473 believes that Mr. Bianchi is the best choice to lead our city forward.
Also Mr. Bianchi’s support of our public school system that it provide a strong and vibrant education and that vocational programs that directly benefit our future workforce be properly equipped and staffed is applauded by our membership.
Dan’s core values of hard work, commitment and sacrifice, exemplifies those of the proud hardworking men and women of Local 473, Filpi added.
